Author
Anna Del Conte was born in Milan. Her first book, Portrait of Pasta, was published in 1976.
In 1987 she was awarded the prestigious Duchessa Maria Luigia di Parma prize for The Gastronomy of Italy (the A-Z section of this book published in the eighties). Her most recent books include Secrets from an Italian Kitchen, Entertaining all'Italiana and The Classic Food of Northern Italy, which in 1996 won both the Guild of Foodwriters' Book Award and the Orio Vergani prize of the Accademia Italiana della Cucina.
In 1994 Anna received the Premio Nazionale di Cultura Gastronomica Verdicchio d'Oro prize for her contribution to the dessemination of knowledge concerning authentic Italian cooking.
She lives in Dorset with her husband and professes that Gastronomy of Italy is the culmination of her life-long love affair with the food and culture of Italy.
