Shannon Bennett (1978 - ) once described as the 'enfant terrible' of Australian kitchens, is now one of Australia's most awarded and recognised chefs.
Shannon worked as an apprentice at the Grand Hyatt Melbourne under Roger Lienhard. He then travelled to London and worked with some of Europe's leading chefs - Albert Roux, John Burton-Race and Marco Pierre White.
In 2000 Shannon returned to Melbourne to open his now eponymous 'Vue de Monde'
Shannon and Vue de Monde have over the years garnered numerous awards and accolades including:
- Australian Gourmet Traveller Restaurant of the Year 2007
- 2007 Age Good Food Guide Restaurant of the Year
- Australian Gourmet Traveller Restaurant of the Year 2007
With success, Vue de Monde has grown and moved several times to ever grander premises. Shannon has also opened Bistro Vue, several Cafe Vues and taken over the gardens & kitchens at Heide; an historic homestead in Melbourne - once the home of the 'Heidelberg' school of Australian landscape painters.
Shannon is also a member of Jeunes Restaurateurs D'Europe and has been a guest of numerous festivals and events including Star Chefs' Congress in New York.
Shannon and his family live in Melbourne.
