| Andrew Pern is a North Yorkshire chef. Andrew's name is synonymous with that of his pub, The Star Inn at Harome, a 14th century listed building acquired in 1996 and consistently appearing on a host of awards lists for its hospitality and Andrew's cooking ever since. The Star was awarded a Michelin Star in 2008 and recently ranked 19th in the National Restaurant Awards Top 100 UK Restaurants, the highest placing for a northern restaurant. Andrew's 'modern Yorkshire' style of cooking places great emphasis on regional and seasonal ingredients and is firmly rooted in North Yorkshire, as indeed is Andrew himself, having grown up on a farm in the Esk Valley near Whitby surrounded by game and with North Sea fish virtually on his doorstep. The Pern empire has expanded over the years to include Cross House Lodge, a boutique hotel and The Star Inn Corner Shop putting this picturesque North Yorkshire Moors village pub firmly on the destination location map. In 2011 Andrew found the time to take part in BBC2's 'Great British Menu', progressing to the Finals with his Celebration of Yorkshire Rhubarb. Restaurant Website: www.thestaratharome.co.uk |
