Max Allen has been writing about wine in Australia for almost twenty years. He is the wine columnist for The Weekend Australian Magazine, wine editor of Australian Gourmet Traveller, and a regular contributor to wine magazines around the world.

In 1999 Max won the prestigious Andre Simon Mermorial award and in 2003, Max was the first Australian to be awarded the Wine Communicator of the Year trophy by the International Wine & Spirit Competition in London,

Max is also chief judge of the Australian Alternative Varieties Wine Show and the Australa New Zealand Organic Wine Show and he publishes an independent online guide to biodynamics in Australian vineyards.
