The identity of the editor(s) of this edition is unknown. There are many small changes from earlier editions, however, Mrs Beeton's Household Management still contains one recipe directly attributable to Isabella Beeton, albeit somewhat abridged, her Benevolent Soup at p.158.
An excellent inter-war copy of the penultimate 'major' edition of Mrs Beeton's The Book of Household Management.
§ Well held internationally, OCLC records 8 holdings in Australasia.
¹ p.1499 refers to legislation passed in 1938 to come into force in 1939. The preface refers to World War I and not World War II. The colour plates are those used in the inter-war editions, and subsequently destroyed in the Blitz in 1940. The paper is not war economy paper. P.1503 mentions 1940 and 1941 probably prospectively.
