¶   Stephanie Alexander AO is one of Australia's most important cooks, restaurateurs and cookbook authors, responsible for training and inspiring a whole generation of Australian chefs; as well as being in her later life, the driving force behind the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Foundation, a not-for-profit organisation that supports practical food education in almost 2000 early childhood learning and primary schools in Australia.

After a brief career as a librarian, Alexander became a cook and restaurateur in 1964 when she opened Jamaica House in Carlton. In 1976, she opened Stephanie's Restaurant, which for the next 21 years was considered by all critics to be one of, if not the best restaurant in Australia.  In 1997, shortly after publishing the critically acclaimed and best selling culinary bible 'The Cook's Companion (which remains in print) Stephanie's Restaurant closed.  Alexander has written more than 18 best selling cookbooks and memoirs.

This, the first of Alexander's memoirs, records the seasons, events and menus of 1992 - with recipes - and was shortlisted for the Julia Child Award in 1993.

An excellent copy.
