Matthew Evans is a chef and food critic turned farmer-food activist. He's also one of our favourite authors.
You might know him from his long-running SBS series Gourmet Farmer (six seasons), set on Fat Pig Farm's 70 acres. He has also presented food documentaries What's the Catch? and For the Love of Meat. Matthew has also authored or co-authored 13 books on food, and is regularly interviewed on radio about all things to do with farming, growing, sustainability, soil and eating.
He now lives the dream on a mixed farm that occupies a one-time apple orchard in the Huon Valley outside Hobart with his partner Sadie Chrestman and son Hedley.
Famous for his booked out long in advance weekend feasts and cooking classes on Fat Pig Farm, Matthew trained as a chef before becoming a restaurant critic, a farmer, advocate and an inspiration.
The Real Food Companion is the definitive Matthew Evans book on food, fully updated. It includes more than 200 recipes and is the result of Matthew's four decades as a writer, chef and farmer. And its core mission is teaching readers how to ethically source, cook and eat real food.
Matthew's passion is infectious and his food delicious.
Please join us on 3rd November for a delicious, entertaining and intimate discussion with Matthew about life on his farm, and how we can all eat real food, with tastes from the book and matching drinks.
Tickets are limited.
