Location:
Books for Cooks
115-121 Victoria St, Queen Victoria Market Melbourne VIC 3000

Our apologies for the short notice, but we are rather excited to be able to offer you an exclusive event with Emiko on one of her brief trips to Australia. Although The Japanese Pantry is not due for release until November, all the stars have aligned on this occasion and on short notice, Emiko, copies of her book and an event have come together in Melbourne.

Emiko is one of our very favourite writers, both in the bookshop and at home. Copies of all of her books grace our bookshelves, and Amanda has cooked her most recent book Gohan ,exploring the Japanese home cooking of her childhood, from cover to cover. Our advance copy of The Japanese Pantry is already bristling with bookmarks and notes.

Both a companion and stand alone reference/recipe book, The Japanese Pantry explores the essence of Japanese home cooking, focusing on the seven core ingredients: soy sauce, miso, seaweed, sake, rice vinegar, sesame and tea. In Emiko's inimitable style, history, tradition, tips and hints, and excellent warm personal observations surround each recipe. There are almost 100 recipes, a mix of fundamental, traditional, more contemporary and all delicious. The illustration and photography are also Emiko's, making this a very personal and beautiful book.

Whether you are familiar with, or a novice to, Japanese cooking, there is something here for everyone.

"The Japanese Pantry" is more than a cookbook: it's a love letter to tradition, simplicity and the joy of cooking with intention" J. Kenji Lopez-Alt

We are very much looking forward to hosting Emiko again and sharing her passion for Japanese ingredients and the home cooking of her Japanese childhood.

Please join us on Tuesday 19th August for a wonderful and intimate discussion. As usual tastes from the books will be served.

Tickets are limited.
