Book Launch: Around the Table

Tuesday, Jul 26, 2022

Julia Busuttil Nishimura is a local Melbourne-based cook and author who often shops here at the Queen Victoria Market.

Around the Table is her latest, and largest, book following on from her highly popular Ostro (2019) and A Year of Simple Food (2020).

Her recipes draw on her Maltese heritage, her time spent in Italy and the Japanese food traditions of her husband, Nori.

Elegantly simple, timelessly casual, and just plain delicious, Julia's cooking calls for simple ingredients and seasonal produce and celebrates the joys of coming together at the table. You can't help but feel the love in her writing.

Delightfully easy to cook from, but rich in ideas, we recommend all of her books. We are enjoying cooking from her latest book immensely - and we think you will too.

Please join us on Tuesday 9th August for delicious tastes from her latest book and a wonderfully warm and intimate chat with one of the loveliest cookbook authors we know - Julia 'Ostro' Busuttil Nishimura.

Tickets are limited.

Can I buy/order a signed copy of Around the Table?

Each ticket includes a signed copy of Around the Table. What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?

If you haven't visited the bookstore for a few years, please note we have moved to the northern side of the Queen Victoria Market.  Our address is 115-121 Victoria Street (next to A Shed)

We recommend public transport.

The 19, 20, 57 (Elizabeth St)and 55 (William & Peel St) trams go past the Queen Victoria Market and run frequently.  We are in the Free Tram Zone and are a short 50m walk from the Elizabeth St Queen Victoria Market stop and the Peel St Queen Victoria Market stop.  Melbourne Central and Flagstaff railway stations are two blocks away.

If driving, there is plenty of metered parking on Queen St near the corner of Victoria St.  There is also limited parking on Victoria Street outside the store.

 Is my registration/ticket transferable?

Yes - to another person - just have them present your ticket on the evening.

What is the refund policy?

Tickets are not refundable.

Covid - please note.

Our shop is a small intimate venue. Seating will be reasonably close, but will be limited. Wine and food will be served. The space is well ventilated. Consistent with Government recommendations, please seriously consider wearing a mask unless eating and drinking. Your hosts are triple vaccinated.
