On Wednesday 6th March we are celebrating the release of the baking book Melbourne (and bakers around the world) has been waiting four years for: "Beatrix Bakes: Another Slice" by Natalie Paull and we would really love you to join us.

We are so excited about this one!

Natalie was one of our very first customers twenty four years ago. Even back then we knew she was a baker extraordinaire and that she had a great book or two in her.

Fast forward to 2011 and the birth of Beatrix Bakes - a tiny café and bakery shop in the wilds of North Melbourne - and a cake shop with delicious soulful baking that no-one could resist. From the moment we visited we knew this was 'the cake shop to end all cake shops'.

In 2020, almost four years to the day, we celebrated with Natalie the release of her first book. Over the past four years, Beatrix Bakes has been our best selling and most rewarding cake book, giving joy and cake to so many bakers new and old..

In 2022, Natalie closed her café and bakery to ...explore... more cake... and thankfully write another book!

Beatrix Bakes: Another Slice is an homage to the cakes and desserts Nat has loved to eat since closing her cult cafe and bakery in inner Melbourne in 2022. By popular demand, the book includes legendary bakes that were not in the hit original Beatrix Bakes (hello lemon cream tart and chocolate sour cream layer cake).

There are all new recipes for irresistible cookies and tray bakes, cakes, tarts, pies (and a strudel), doughs and epic day-off baking projects to fill your weekend. It also features Beatrix baseix – think cream, custard and ganache – fruity bits and cake-cessories (honeycomb, toffee, streusel and spice), as well as the beloved Adaptrix tips for handy substitutions, all served in Nat's signature style: warm, encouraging and firm when required.

Whether as a companion to her first book, or as your first book on making great cake, Beatrix Bakes: Another Slice is the must have baking book for 2024 to have in your home. With it you'll feel that Natalie is at your side as you bake and it will all turn out fine - and it will!

I can't attend an event, can I buy/pre-order a signed copy of the book?

Yes. Copies will be available for signing and purchase on the night. If you can't attend, we can organise to post signed and personalised copies to you.

What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?

If you haven't been to one of our events for a while, please note we have moved to the northern side of the Queen Victoria Market. Our new address is 115-121 Victoria Street (next to A Shed)

The 19, 20, 57 (Elizabeth St)and 55 (William & Peel St) trams go past the Queen Victoria Market and run frequently. We are in the Free Tram Zone and are a short 50m walk from the Elizabeth St Queen Victoria Market stop and the Peel St Queen Victoria Market stop. Melbourne Central and Flagstaff railway stations are two blocks away.

If driving, there is plenty of metered parking on Queen St near the corner of Victoria St. There is also limited parking on Victoria Street outside the store.
