At Nonna's Table: an evening with Paola Bacchia

Monday, Mar 25, 2024 6:30 PM - 8:00 PM

Location:
Books for Cooks
115-121 Victoria St, Queen Victoria Market, Melbourne

Our guest, Paola Bacchia is a local author and cookery school teacher who has written several beautiful cookery books Adriatico, Istria and Italian Street Food.

We were lucky to have Paola speak in-store about her book Adriatico some years ago and we are very excited to be able to share Paola's new book At Nonna's Table with you.

Over the past few years, Paola has been recording and preserving the recipes of her mother, Livia, capturing the food of the Adriatic coast, her mother's family, their migration to Australia and Paola's childhood here. Livia played no small part in Paola's career as a food writer and cooking teacher.

Here, Paola has written a beautiful and personal memoir of the woman that taught her to cook and inspired her love of food. There are some 60 personal, simple and delicious dishes that celebrate the best of Italian home cooking and capture the origins and authenticity of the Australian immigration story; underlining the importance of one's Nonna.

Rich, evocative photos compliment Paola's heartfelt stories of her childhood and her mum's life. Whether you are looking for sustaining recipes or uplifting stories, At Nonna's Table will delight lovers of food and family.

Please join us on Monday 25th March for yet another wonderful conversation this time with Paola Bacchia, celebrating the life and recipes of her beloved Nonna.

As usual we will be cooking from the book and serving up tastes. This will be a wonderful event

 Tickets are limited.
